Tera Mera Saath Rahe Review – Similarity in plot dampens interest

SUBSCRIBE FOR LATEST UPDATES

Star Bharat recently underwent a revamp and launched quite some presentations on its channel. One of them is the prequel of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, named Tera Mera Saath Rahe. The show saw the return of favorite Saas Bahu Jodi Gopi and Kokila as Gopika and Mithila. The daily will take viewers through the journey of a talented yet nervous girl Gopika (played by Giaa Manek) and a powerful and independent mentor Mithila (played by Rupal Patel).

Produced by Ved Raj from Shoonya Square Productions, the show’s ensemble cast also includes Mohammad Nazim, Vandana Vithlani, Mili Verma, Nitin Vakharia, Jyoti Mukerji, Raj Kumar, Pooja Kava, Minal Karpe, Hitesh Sampat, Maharshi Dave, Sumanti, and many more.

If one is to recall, even before the show went on-air, looking at the cast of the show, there were assumptions made that the show is a sequel of Saath Nibhana Saathiya which premiered in 2010. The show had a fantastic run of 7 long years and Tera Mera Saath Rahe, brings back the stellar cast promising that the show is nowhere close to Saath Nibhana Saathiya.

As the show commenced, we would be wrong if we said that it did not bring back all the memories of Saath Nibhana Saathiya. Now as the show is slowly proceeding, it does give out a feel that Tera Mera Saath Rahe is inculcating a fusion of progressive thoughts and traditional beliefs in our value system. We also love the entire feel of the show where it gives us fashion goals. But it is difficult for us to believe how, in a world where even a middle class child knows how to operate a mobile phone, or for that matter infants and kids are studying virtually, how is it possible that a girl like Gopika does not know how to switch on a tablet phone!

Not only that, really? Plotting to hide and sing behind a temple because Ashi does not know how to impress her in-laws using her vocal chords! How close are we getting to realistic content?

Overall:

Tera Mera Saath Rahe seems to be a copy of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. The same story is presented to audiences by just changing the names of the characters and show. Gopika looks and behaves exactly like Gopi. Similarly, the nature of the remaining characters be it Vandana Vithlani, Mohammad Nazim or Rupal Patel doesn’t give a new appeal to the show. This similarity in plot dampens the interest of the viewers. With all of this, we must say that if Tera Mera Saath Rahe is taken nothing than a visual entertainer, it does manage to charm its way through and if though the concept might be old or repeated, it does manage to make us sit through the show to know how the situations will unfold and make Saksham and Gopika fall in love once again!

Overall, if you are a fan of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, you should give it a try. The return of Giaa Manek and Mohammad Nazim on television is something which we did miss and ofcourse, Rupal Patel, in her strict and disciplined avatars. We also hope that the show manages to capture the audience’s attention in the near future.

My Rating:

2 out of 5
