“Virat sir!” Sai shouted right away once Virat entered their bedroom.
“What happened Sai? Why are you tensed?” Virat asked worriedly coming near to her.
She was about to open her mouth to talk, he signaled her to stop.
“Wait for two minutes… let me change into my nightdress and come.” He said and started moving away.
“You don’t care about me!” she folded her hands across her hip and turned away pouting. Virat halted on his steps. Rolling his eyes, he turned and looked at her.
“Please be calm, drama queen!” he said gently making her squint her eyes in anger.
“What did I do today?” he asked calmly and she glared at him.
“How would I know? It’s not like you give me message updates every hour.” She complained making him smile.
“Do you want me to?” he asked teasingly and she blinked in response.
“Don’t change the topic, Virat sir!” she accused him pointing a finger at him.
“You are the one who changed it in the first place, Sai” he accused back and poked her forehead with his finger.
“When?” she asked in disbelief massaging her forehead. Virat closed his eyes and took a deep sigh.
“Patience, Virat! Patience! You can do this!” he started chanting while Sai just rolled her eyes.
He opened his eyes after taking a deep sigh again.
“Okay Sai, let me rephrase it! ‘What did I do to make you upset?’” he asked stressing every word.
But when Sai opened her mouth to reply, he hurriedly signaled her to stop.
“this time” he added with a proud smile making Sai close her mouth in a pout.
“I won’t tell you. You would make fun of me.” She said turning back.
Virat melted at her childlike attitude and walked to the other side to face her. She was squeezing both her hands together. He pulled her right hand to him and patted it gently.
“Sai! Please tell me what is troubling you. I would do anything to fix that” he said smiling gently but her frown deepened.
“You cannot do anything, sir. You are bounded by the promise.” Sai bowed down and replied with a sad sigh making Virat shudder.
He cupped her cheeks and made her look at him. She seems tense and sad at the same time.
“Sai! I am your husband and nothing is more important to me than keeping you happy. Never forget this!” he said honestly making her smile.
“But, I would never stand between you and your vows.” She said softly removing his hands from her cheeks and he frowned. However, it changed into a wide smile when he noticed her blushed cheeks. She turned away making him frown again.
“Sai..” He called out but Sai interrupted him without turning back.
“I could not tolerate any more of this new feeling that I have to go through every day because of you, Virat sir! I am getting weaker day by day but still could not stop. I hid from you all these days because I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable. But I am getting habituated to it so much that I am afraid I could never get over this problem. It is getting worse and I have no faith in you in this matter.” She blurted and waited for a response but there was none. All she could hear was something like a snake hissing sound.
She got afraid at once and turned around to see Virat breathing heavily. Her fear grew more and she held his face in her both hands.
“Relax, Virat sir! I know what is happening. Just last week, we had a class on this. You are having an attack” she said trying to calm him. But, it made his condition worse.
His eyes wide opened in fear and he clutched his heart with his right palm. She shook his head quickly.
“No, not a heart attack. I am sorry. It’s just a panic attack.” She clarified and placed her hand over his hand on his chest. He seemed somewhat relaxed.
“Just relax, Virat sir. Breathe in and Breathe out” she instructed him to do with her. He followed suit.
Once he is back to normal, she made him sit on the bed and fed him water slowly. He looked up closing his eyes and closed his face with both palms. She sat next to him on the bed and started rubbing his chest with her right hand.
“Are you okay now, Virat sir?” she asked sitting next to him on the bed and he turned to look at her. His face is blank. She got up from the bed removing her hand off him and started pacing before him.
“How did this happen suddenly? Have you become so old? How old are you anyway, Virat sir? I never actually bothered before to ask you. Is what Kaku ma said on my Graha Pravesh is true? Is your age is really double than mine…” she only stopped her blabbering after noticing his angry look. He raised his eyebrow.
“Are you trying to give me another panic attack, Sai? Or worse a heart attack this time?” he asked calmly making her gasp. She immediately knelt and closed his mouth using her right hand.
“Virat sir…” she shook her head with a pout making his anger fade out instantly. He caught her wrist with his left hand and pulled it down close to his heart. Her eyes widened when she felt his racing heartbeat. She opened her mouth to talk, but he kept his right-hand finger on her lips effectively shutting her up. She frowned.
“We always get lost in our fight and divert from addressing our real problems or feelings. But, I don’t want that to happen today. Please tell me what this new feeling bothering you nowadays that you cannot get rid of?” he asked with a hopeful smile.
She became shy and bent down.
“No, I won’t tell you. You would make fun of me for being childish.” She asked slightly shaking her head.
His heartbeat increased and she felt it through her palm. She immediately looked up at him in panic. He gave her a reassuring smile.
“On the contrary, I feel like this is the first time we are having some mature talk, Sai. Please don’t increase my anticipation anymore. Trust me! Whatever your problem is, I will give you the solution served in a platter.” He said earnestly.
Her face brightened instantly and he was happy of convincing her. She removed her hands off him and clapped enthusiastically.
“The solution is already served in platter only, Virat sir!” she said happily making him confused. His mind could not decipher her words since he was feeling thirsty. He took the water jug kept at the foot of the bed and started drinking.
“Let’s start right away” she announced with a clap again. He choked on water and it got spilled all over on his uniform. Without caring about it, he starred at her like seeing a ghost.
“Arrey… What have you done, Virat sir? You are so clumsy!” she said while trying to clean his uniform with her dupatta. But it’s too late since the pure cotton fabric of the uniform had already absorbed all the spilled water. She frowned but he was still looking at her as if in some trance.
She started unbuttoning his shirt. He shuddered when her fingers touched his bare skin making him snap back to reality.
“Sai!” He jerked her hands off him immediately. She rolled her eyes at his action and motioned again to unbutton his shirt. He clutched the collar together and turned to a side and she gave a quick displeased sigh.
“Come on, Virat sir. It’s already late. Don’t make me wait anymore” she said while turning him to face her. He gave her a terrified look and gulped nervously. His hold on his collar loosened a bit. Taking the chance, she unbuttoned his shirt one by one with her medical studies concentration.
“Sai…” he breathed out but she heard him all right because of standing very close to him.
“Hm,” she hummed back in response without looking up.
“I am all ready for this… but don’t you think it’s too early for this? Maybe we should try talking first and conf…” his words are again interrupted by Sai who is now looking at him like he had grown horns.
“Early? It’s already very late, Virat sir. For every minute we delay, I feel like it won’t be hot anymore” she said in a complaining voice. His eyes grew wide in panic and he clutched her hands on his shirt tightly.
“Arrey… how come it won’t be hot? I assure you it is going to be damn hot that you would be soon thanking god that tomorrow is Sunday and you would not have to take leave for the college.” He said with a determined face but she got confused. She removed her hands from his clutch and started scratching her head.
“I know you would get angry when you are hungry, but do you talk non-sense too?” she asked tilting her head at one side. He opened his mouth but closed it right away.
“How it would be hot till this time? It was brought here hours before. And, why I am going to think of taking leave for the college just because of a cold dinner?” she asked keeping both her hands on her hip.
He looked utterly confused and tried to replay all that was happened.
“Dinner?” he asked squinting his eyes
“Yes, our dinner” she nodded.
“Were you talking about dinner now?” he asked again and she breathed out tiredly.
“Yes, dinner! The ultimate solution served in a platter for my problem. Can we eat now?” she replied with stressing each word and started moving towards the sofa where the dinner has kept.
Before he stops himself, his hand pulled her to him and she hit his bare chest with a thud. She blushed when her lips slightly grazed his bare chest and gulped nervously. She tried to remove herself from him but could not do so since he had a tight hold on her waist. She looked up with a pout.
“What now, Virat sir? I am going to die in hunger today, it seems” she wailed and his eyes bulged in realization.
“The feeling you were talking about earlier was hunger?” he asked in an unbelieving tone.
“Of course!” she said shrugging her shoulders while he looked at her blankly.
When he didn’t say anything, she started talking to keep her mind off from his chest resembling cool marble.
“I got habituated to eating dinner with you but nowadays because of this new case, you are coming late every night. I have to suffer in hunger till you come home. It’s been weeks now I am tolerating this but my hunger is getting out of hand. Are you going to finish this case soon or what, Virat sir?” she asked in annoyance.
His look was blank for some time, but soon got changed into anger. He dragged her to the sofa and made her sit forcefully.
Opening the lid of a dinner plate, he took a roti and stuffed it into her mouth. She got confused at his actions.
“Eat! Eat my dinner too if you want! I hope you would get full so that you would stop eating my brain” he shouted at her and started walking to the door. His shirt is hanging on his shoulders unbuttoned.
She removed the roti from her mouth and called him out. But he is already gone and she could just hear his murmurs.
“Stupid Virat! How could you think your wife has finally grown up?”
Sai got confused listening to his words.
“Grow up? He wants me to grow up more than now? Would not he feel awkward to be shorter than his wife?”
She shrugged her shoulders and started eating properly but halted thoughtfully. She turned towards the clock and panicked.
“Oh my god! It is the time of Pakhi didi’s watchman duty and he went without buttoning his shirts!” she exclaimed in horror and got up quickly from the seat. Her tummy growled making her look down at her mouth-watering dinner. She shook her head hurriedly and made a determining face.
“Focus, Sai Joshi Chavan! Saving your hot husband is more important than eating your cold dinner” she said to herself and dashed out of the room.
“Virat sir!” Sai shouted right away once Virat entered their bedroom.
